Don't Let Your Kids Read This Book! Or they'll be going to hell with gasoline drawers on...
I just wanted to pass on this humorous email sent to me from a "concerned" Alabama Baptist in regards to a book and religious organization known as the ReCreation Foundation. The email is followed by the group's mission statement and their overview of Tomorrow's God. Being an agnostic, I find it all quite amusing and understand (though I don't sympathize) Baptists and other traditional Christian theological groups being wary. Please take the time to read and consider the implications of what the ReCreation Foundation's message is. It sounds very Zen to me and begs the question: Are religious groups being forced to evolve?
Some quotes to keep in mind while reading:
"Pontius Pilate was the first great censor and Jesus Christ the first great victim of censorship."
-Ben Lindsey
"Of all religions, the Christian should of course inspire the most tolerance, but until now Christians have been the most intolerant of all men."
-Voltaire
"The eye with which I see God is the same eye with which God sees me."
-Meister Eckhart
"Every day people are straying away from the church and going back to God."
-Lenny Bruce
"Whoever knows himself knows God."
-Muhammad
"I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ."
-Mohandas Gandhi
And the sensationalism begins:
If you have children or grandchildren, work with children at church, or if you have neighborhood children whose parents you know, please take note of the information below and pass it along to others. Schools are distributing this book to children through the Scholastic Book Club. The name of the book is Conversations with God.. James Dobson talked about this book twice this week. It is devastating (and you are melodramatic). Parents, churches and Christian schools need to be aware of it. Please pass this information on to church/e-mail addressees, Parents, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, friends (and all close-minded bigots alike).
Please pay special attention not only to what your kids watch on TV, in movie theaters, on the internet, and the music they listen to, but also be alert regarding the books they read.
Two particular books are, Conversations with God and Conversations with God for Teens, written by Neale D. Walsch. They sound harmless enough by their titles alone. The books have been on the New York Times best sellers list for a number of weeks, and they make truth of the statement, 'Don't judge a book by its cover or title.'
The author purports to answer various questions asked by kids using the 'voice of God'. However, the 'answers' that he gives are not Bible-based and go against the very infallible word of God. For instance (and I paraphrase), when a girl asks the question 'Why am I a lesbian?' His answer is that she was 'born that way' because of genetics (just as you were born right-handed, with brown eyes, etc.). Then he tells her to go out and 'celebrate' her differences (right on!).
Another girl poses the question 'I am living with my boyfriend. My parents say that I should marry him because I am living in sin. Should I marry him?'
His reply is, 'Who are you sinning against? Not me, because you have done nothing wrong.'
Another question asks about God's forgiveness of sin. His reply 'I do not forgive anyone because there is nothing to forgive. There is no such thing as right or wrong and that is what I have been trying to tell everyone, do not judge people. People have chosen to judge one another and this is wrong, because the rule is ''judge not lest ye be judged.' Not only are these books the false doctrine of the devil, but in some instances quote (in error) the Word of God.
And the list goes on. These books (and others like it) are being sold to schoolchildren through (The Scholastic Book Club), and we need to be aware of what is being fed to our children.
Our children are under attack. So I pray that you be sober and vigilant about teaching your children the Word of God, and guarding their exposure to worldly mediums, because our adversary, the devil, roams about as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). We know that lions usually hunt for the slowest, weakest and YOUNGEST of its prey.
Pass this on to every Believer you know (Believer in what?).
God bless! And, if you are in doubt, check out the books yourself.

New Spirituality Principles
Three Statements of Ultimate Truth are:
We are all One, There's enough, and There's nothing you have to do.
Three Core Concepts of Holistic Living - Living as a Whole Person:
--Body-Mind-Spirit--
Awareness - Honesty - Responsibility
(These replace the 3 P's: Productivity, Popularity, and Possessions)
(These replace the 3 P's: Productivity, Popularity, and Possessions)
use to:
1. Redefine yourself as individuals
2. Redefine yourself as a society
3. Redefine "success"
5 Fallacies about God
1. God needs something.
2. God can fail to get what God needs.
3. God has separated you from God because you have not given God what God needs.
4. God still needs what God needs so badly that God requires you, from your separated position, to provide it.
5. God will destroy you if you do not meet God's requirements.
5 Fallacies about Life
1. Human beings are separate from each other
2. There is not enough of what human beings need to be happy
3. To get the stuff of which there is not enough, human beings must compete with each other.
4. Some human beings are better than other human beings.
5. It is appropriate for human beings to resolve severe differences created by all the other fallacies by killing each other.
Characteristics of Tomorrow's God
1. Tomorrow's God does not require anyone to believe in God (Sign me up!).
2. Tomorrow's God is without gender, size, shape, color, or any of the characteristics of an individual living being.
3. Tomorrow's God talks with everyone all the time (Good news for the rest of you hearing voices in your head).
4. Tomorrow's God is separate from nothing, but is Everywhere Present, the All in All, the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the Sum Total of Everything that ever was, is now, and ever shall be.
5. Tomorrow's God is not a singular Super Being, but the extraordinary process called life (Bravo!!!).
6. Tomorrow's God is ever changing.
7. Tomorrow's God is needless (Great, because Today's God is needy as hell).
8. Tomorrow's God does not ask to be served, but is the Servant of all of Life.
9. Tomorrow's God will be unconditionally loving, nonjudgmental, non-condemning, and non-punishing (Great news for me!).
Principles of the New Spirituality (New Revelations)
1. God has never stopped communicating directly with human beings. God has been
communicating with and through human beings from the beginning of time. God does so today.
2. Every human being is as special as every other human being who has ever lived, lives now, or ever will live. You are all messengers, everyone of you, and you are carrying a message to life about life every day, every hour, every moment.
3. No path to God is more direct than any other path. No religion is the ”one true religion,” no people are “the chosen people,” and no prophet is the “greatest prophet.
4. God needs nothing. God requires nothing in order to be happy. God is happiness itself. Therefore, God requires nothing of anyone or anything in the Universe.
5. God is not a singular Super Being, living somewhere in the Universe or outside of it, having the same emotional needs and subject to the same emotional turmoil as humans. That Which Is God cannot be hurt or damaged in any way, and so, has no need to seek revenge or impose punishment.
6. All things are One Thing. There is only One Thing and all things are part of the One Thing That Is.
7. There is no such thing as Right and Wrong. There is only What Works and What Does Not Work, depending upon what it is that you seek to be, do, or have.
8. You are not your body. Who you are is limitless and without end.
9. You cannot die, and you will never be condemned to eternal damnation.
The 3 Basic Life Principles
(these replace: Morality, Justice, and Ownership)
(these replace: Morality, Justice, and Ownership)
1. Functionality
2. Adaptability
3. Sustainability
The New Gospel:
"We are all one."
"Ours is not a better way, ours is merely another way."
Be-Do-Have Paradigm
The “Be-Do-Have Paradigm” is a way of looking at life. It is nothing more or less than that. Yet this way of looking at life could change your life and probably will. Because what is true about this paradigm is that most people have it all backward and when they finally get it straightened out and start looking at it frontward, everything in their lives shifts 180-degrees.
